Eastern Tiger Salamander

Ambystoma tigrinum

The average size ranges between 7-8 inches (17.78-20.32 cm). It is stocky with sturdy limbs and a long tail. the Front feet have three toes while the ack feet have four. The body color is dark brown, almost black, and irregularly marked with yellow to olive colored blotches. This animal might be confused with is the smaller spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum). However, the spotted has two rows yellow-to-orange spots running parallel down its back.
